About Us

Hello and welcome from everyone at Craft Creations Ltd. As you clicked on the 'About Us' button you must have an interest in finding out a bit more about the company, so here is a brief history of events so far.

We started the company back in late 1985. Our range consisted of just card blanks in two sizes and two aperture shapes in five colours. We ran the business from our house in Edmonton (North London) and the cards were made for us by another company.

In September 1987 we moved into 3 small units at Harpers Yard in Tottenham (North London). This extra space meant we could start to develop our range more and produce a proper catalogue.

In 1988 we took an extra unit at Harpers Yard and purchased our first die-cutting machine, guillotine and printing machine.

Then in 1989 to house the ever growing amounts of stock, a new large printing machine, platemaking and typesetting facilities, we took another 3 units at Harpers Yard.

We then grew steadily each year until 1995 when we occupied all 16 units at Harpers Yard. We had a showroom, offices, warehouse, picking, packing, photographic studio, printing, platemaking and manufacturing departments. In total we had 4 die-cutting machines, a guillotine, a hot foiling machine and 2 printing machines.

In the Spring of 1996 we launched the Craft Creations Magazine and by the middle of that year we realised we had outgrown Harpers Yard. We then started a search for new premises and found Ingersoll House in Cheshunt, Herts.

January 1997 saw the print and manufacturing department move to Ingersoll House. The rest of the factory couldn't move until the beginning of June as the new premises had to be completely stripped out and refurbished.

We set up our website in 1995 when most people thought a website would be a waste of time and money, and started taking online orders in 1997. At the present time around 50% of our orders are coming from online customers, this percentage is growing steadily.

During 1999 Peel Off Stickers began to have a very big impact on the hand made greetings card market and we, like many other companies in the UK sold a good selection. In October 2000 we bought the Gold Label name, stock & machinery and started production of Gold Label stickers at our premises in Cheshunt. We became the only UK manufacturer of peel off stickers and began to introduce stickers more relevant to the UK market. We now have a huge range of designs in 47 different colour variations including standard, glitter and holographic colours.

Our new premises had enough expansion space to last us a while, but not as long as we had hoped. With many extra staff and hundreds of new products, we found ourselves once again squeezed into a space which was rapidly becoming too small for us. Fortunately at the beginning of 2004 the company occupying the remaining quarter of the building moved out, giving us the opportunity to expand into their space and we now occupy the whole building. It didn't take us long to fill what seemed like a vast area but hopefully this expansion will allow us to remain here for several more years.

Over the years in Ingersoll House we have added many more machines to our manufacturing department including new scoring facilities. January 2007 saw the purchase of a new 'state of the art' waterless digital printing press, this will enable us to maintain the growth, while keeping the price competitive, of our Creative Paper range which is suitable for cardmaking, papercrafts and scrapbooking.

We keep in stock well in excess of 600,000 greetings card blanks and 300,000 Gold Label stickers to try to prevent delays in order despatch.

Jenny and Paul Kearley.
